From Knowing There Was More, To Clear, Aligned And Free: What Really Happens When You Listen To Yourself

Five years ago, I made one small decision that changed everything.
I thought I was taking a simple 21-day break from alcohol. No rock bottom, no drama, no “I’ll never drink again.
”Just “Let me stop for a bit and see how I feel”.
At the time, I was in a senior corporate role, doing what many high-achieving women in their 30s and 40s do so well, holding it all together, performing at a high level, and quietly running on fumes.
On paper? I was doing well.
Inside? I was stuck.
I’d convinced myself I had to stay where I was, because:
“This is the best place to progress.”
“Why would you leave? You’re on track.”
“Are you sure you’d get this anywhere else?”
You hear that long enough, you start to believe it.
Maybe this is it.
Maybe I don’t get to want more.
Then I stopped drinking.
I thought I’d get a better sleep and lose some bloat.
Instead, I got something else:
Clarity.
The First Shift: Clarity and Confidence
Almost immediately, I started seeing my own value more clearly.
Without the dullness, I could suddenly see what I’d been tolerating, where I’d been settling, and how capable I really was.
That one choice started a domino effect.
Within months of going alcohol-free, I was headhunted into a bigger role, Executive Director in a global investment bank.
The kind of promotion I’d secretly filed under “not for me (yet)”.
And here’s the part I really want you to hear:
The biggest change wasn’t that the world suddenly believed in me.
It's that I did.
When you remove what keeps you numb, you stop gaslighting yourself.
You stop talking yourself out of your own power.
You start telling the truth:
“I am worth more.”
“I am allowed to want more.”
“I’m not here to live beige.”
The Next Shift: “What Do I Actually Want?”
At around the 21-day mark, I joined an alcohol-free community and listened to women who were a few months to a year ahead of me.
They weren’t just saying “I feel healthier”.
They were saying, “My entire life has opened up”.
They’d started businesses.
Written books.
Become healthier.
Left careers that looked impressive but felt empty.
Actually liked themselves again.
I remember thinking, "Surely that’s not just from not drinking".
But it wasn’t about alcohol.
It was about alignment.
When you stop numbing, you meet yourself.
And once you’ve met yourself, you can’t keep ignoring yourself.
From Career Ladder to Calling
Coaching had always been something I loved, mentoring and developing people was my thing, but I kept telling myself “one day”.
When I removed the fog, I did something I hadn’t done in years:
I let myself want what I actually wanted.
In January 2021, I started training as a Transformational Coach.
That one decision led to everything that followed, my book, my business, my clients around the world, and the work I now do helping women realign their energy and direction.
I didn’t become brave.
I became honest.
If You Feel the Same Pull…
Maybe you’ve done everything “right” and still feel restless.
Maybe something in you is whispering, “There’s got to be more than this”.
That isn’t drama. It’s data.
It’s the part of you that’s ready to stop ignoring yourself and start listening inward.
If that lands, I’m hosting a free live workshop this week called From Fear to Forward, for women in their 40s, 50s and beyond who know they’re meant for more but keep hesitating, overthinking, or holding back.
We’ll talk about what’s quietly holding you back (and how to move through it for good).
