Trusting Yourself: What “Follow Your Spleen” Really Means

ree

I’ll admit something: I did enjoy Love is Blind UK this year. And, I nearly jumped out of my seat when one of the contestants started talking about Human Design.

He introduced himself as a Human Design coach, and I thought: Yes! Finally, someone bringing this into the mainstream.

But then he kept saying, “I just follow my spleen…I trust my spleen.”

Now, if you’ve never studied Human Design before, that sounds…odd. And even though I knew exactly what he meant, I could imagine people watching thinking: What on earth is he talking about?

So, I wanted to write about it here and give a bit of context — and share what “trusting your spleen” can actually look like in practice.

Human Design in a Nutshell

Human Design is, at its heart, a tool for self-understanding. It helps you see:

How you’re designed to use your energy.

How to make aligned decisions.

Where your strengths shine and where you may get caught up in fears or conditioning.

The unique way you’re meant to contribute to the world.

But here’s the key: it’s not about rules. It’s not about “you’re this type, so you can’t do X.” It’s about curiosity and experimentation. It’s about finding what works for you.

How We Make Decisions

One of the most practical parts of Human Design is your authority — the way you’re designed to make decisions.

There are different kinds, but the main three are:

Emotional Authority — waiting for neutrality instead of deciding on a high or a low. When it comes to big decisions, sleep on it.

Sacral Authority — this is your gut response, if it’s not a clear yes in your body, it’s a no.

Splenic Authority — this is intuitive knowing, that instant sense of “this is right for me.”

This is what Patrick on Love is Blind was trying to explain. When he said he “trusts his spleen,” he meant: I trust that instant flash of intuition before my mind jumps in to doubt it.

And honestly? That’s powerful.

Why This Matters

I’ve worked with so many women who’ve achieved a lot on paper but secretly feel invisible — exhausted, disconnected, and unsure who they really are anymore.

They’ve lost touch with their own compass. And when you don’t know how to listen to yourself, you end up taking actions that don’t matter, saying yes when you want to say no, and waking up one day wondering, Is this really my life?

Learning to make decisions in alignment with how you’re actually wired changes everything. It’s like remembering who you are and finally giving yourself permission to trust it.

Try This Little Experiment

Next time you’re faced with a decision, pause and check in:

Am I riding an emotional high or low? If yes, wait until I level out.

Does my gut pull me forward, or do I feel myself leaning back?

Did I get an instant knowing — and am I about to talk myself out of it?

Start noticing. Start playing with it. This is how you begin building trust with yourself again.

Why I Teach This Work

I don’t just teach Human Design. I live it.

I know what it’s like to feel stretched thin, exhausted, and disconnected from myself. I also know what it feels like to rebuild — to stop chasing other people’s expectations and finally stand in my own clarity, confidence, and presence.

That’s why I combine Human Design with other tools like nervous system work, mindset mastery, and embodied practices. Together, they help women release fear, reclaim energy, and feel magnetic again.

Final Thought

When someone says “just trust your intuition,” it can sound vague or frustrating. But the truth is: you already have the answers inside you.

The work is learning how to hear them, trust them, and act on them before doubt creeps in.

Because you were never invisible. You’ve just been carrying too much of everyone else’s noise. Your reset begins the moment you start listening inward again.

Question for you: Have you ever made a decision too quickly, had a gut feeling or inner knowing you ignored — and later wished you hadn’t?

I’d love to hear.

Curious how Human Design applies to your life? Let’s grab a 20-minute virtual coffee and explore if this could be the reset you’ve been looking for.
